A collection of my recent creations...
As far back as I can remember, I always loved to draw. Whether it was faces, real or imaginary, animals, numbers & letters, trees, skeletons... it didn't matter. I had to get my ideas on paper. This led to a life of creating art and evolving into a career in graphic design and illustration. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Uni
As far back as I can remember, I always loved to draw. Whether it was faces, real or imaginary, animals, numbers & letters, trees, skeletons... it didn't matter. I had to get my ideas on paper. This led to a life of creating art and evolving into a career in graphic design and illustration. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Delaware and my Master of Fine Arts in Illustration as Visual Essay from the School of Visual Arts in New York.
I have experimented with many different mediums throughout my life and only have recently discovered my love and amazement with oils. My overall portfolio includes published and personal or commissioned work done in linoleum block printing (sometimes combined with digital alterations), pen & ink, with or without watercolor, gouache, colored pencils and graphite.
I am always doodling in my sketchbooks and I love to watch how a new piece will come to life from only an initial scratch of a line on the page. I'm inspired by the intuitive nature of letting things organically develop and then I may push it further by incorporating elements of the sketch or idea into a more finished painting or drawing
I am always doodling in my sketchbooks and I love to watch how a new piece will come to life from only an initial scratch of a line on the page. I'm inspired by the intuitive nature of letting things organically develop and then I may push it further by incorporating elements of the sketch or idea into a more finished painting or drawing later on. I'm fascinated with the natural world with its delicate balance and intricate complexities that we unconsciously overlook everyday.
For example, I may study the texture where the growth of a tiny new branch on a tree has an extra fold of bark at its base. Since I am likely to be the only person to ever look at this precise location, it gives me such an intimate connection.
